Job Title: Manager, Account Payable

At RONA Inc., we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager, Account Payable to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operational activities associated with the AP team, ensuring timely processing of payments, and maintaining accurate financial records.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure internal controls and processes are adhered to in accordance with company policies.
  • Be relied upon as the main point of contact for resolving complex A/P related issues, ensuring compliance with vendor-payment terms.
  • Work closely with external departments, other divisions, and vendors to resolve issues and effectively handle customer complaints and ensure timely processing of payments.
  • Closely monitor the A/P Aging, ensuring aged payables are resolved and proper review and reconciliation processes are in place.
  • Monitor the overall requests sent to the AP Team to ensure appropriate processing times and resolution of issues.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain documented A/P best practices, identifying inefficiencies/risk and recommending changes to reporting manager.
  • Generate financial reports, as required.
  • Support the finance team to ensure a smooth year-end audit.
  • Review journal entries and account reconciliations for completeness and accuracy.
  • Prepare journal entries if needed relating to vendor accounts.
  • Conduct team meetings to update members on best practices and continuing expectations.
  • Perform staff reviews and recommend staff training development within AP team.
  • On-board and train new team members.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience in an accounting or financial analysis role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Key roles in working on transformation and process improvement projects.
  • Comfortable challenging the status quo. Oriented towards continuous improvement.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, knowledge of lookups, pivot.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of leadership experience with direct report responsibility.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality work.
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and multi-stakeholder collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work within a high-volume transaction and diverse business environment.
  • Excellent communication skills - ability to effectively deal with both external and internal stakeholders.
  • Bilingual (French and English) as this role must communicate with out-of-province stakeholders.
  • Excellent time management skills, flexibility, and an ability to work unsupervised and under pressure.
  • Bachelor's degree in administration, finance, or accounting or equivalent.
  • CPA designation is an asset.
