Position Overview:
The Child Welfare Specialist is accountable to the Family Services Supervisor. The main goal is to safeguard the health and safety of children by collaborating with families to mitigate identified risks.Key Responsibilities:
Serve as an Officer Under the Act, wielding all associated powers as outlined in The Child & Family Services Act for the Province of Saskatchewan. Complete all case plans, documentation, and legal agreements in line with the Family Centered Case Management Manual. Provide support, counseling, and interventions to address identified risk factors. Actively engage with Prevention Services in family group conferencing, case conferences, and case planning. Collaborate with families and out-of-home placements to ensure the safety, well-being, and permanence of children. Work closely with community resource personnel to establish services for families. Refer families to appropriate agencies for specific needs such as counseling services, addiction treatment, child assessments, etc. Prepare all necessary documentation for and attend Family Services Court. Advocate for and assist clients in overcoming barriers. Conduct informational sessions regarding ICFS and The Child & Family Services Act for community resources. Ensure that all files and documentation are current and accurate. Apprehend children when necessary. Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work (BISW) Must provide a recent and satisfactory Criminal Record, Child Abuse, and Driver's Abstract ClearanceBenefits:
