Position Overview

The Government of Nunavut is seeking a dedicated Program Counselor/Facilitator to contribute to the community of Rankin Inlet. This role is integral to the delivery of culturally relevant programs aimed at rehabilitation and reintegration of offenders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and facilitate programs based on traditional Inuit culture.
  • Provide one-on-one counseling and group sessions for small cohorts.
  • Implement culturally appropriate practices that align with Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (IQ).
  • Collaborate with the Deputy Warden, Programs to ensure effective program delivery.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A degree in counseling or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in community development, counseling, or program facilitation.
  • A strong understanding of Inuit cultural beliefs and practices.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Additional Information

This position is classified as Highly Sensitive, requiring a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and a clear Vulnerable Sector Check. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, and language is considered an asset. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut's official languages is also advantageous.
