- Proven experience in teaching within a primary classroom setting (Grades K4-2)
- Familiarity with and experience in applying early learning methodologies is advantageous

Candidates should possess and may be evaluated on their:
- Enthusiasm for learning about and incorporating Liard First Nation (Kaska Dene) culture and worldview, as well as the Dene zagi (Kaska language) into the curriculum
- Ability to collaborate effectively and maintain genuine relationships with the Liard First Nation government, Daylu Dena Council Educational Support Workers (ESW), community Elders, and families
- Commitment to living, working, and engaging as an active member of the Watson Lake community
- Strong classroom management, planning, and organizational abilities, with a talent for inspiring students
- Comprehensive understanding of inclusive education philosophy, along with excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills with parents, staff, coaches, the First Nation School Board, and other stakeholders
- Demonstrated capability to implement restorative practices and positive behavioral interventions and supports
- Proven ability to plan, deliver, and assess project-based learning initiatives to meet curriculum objectives
- Solid understanding and experience in applying on-the-land curriculum
- Knowledge of and proficiency in implementing science of reading strategies for literacy development
- Demonstrated ability to create, support, and execute Student Learning Plans, Behaviour Plans, Safety Plans, and Individual Education Plans
- Knowledge of and ability to apply developmentally appropriate teaching methods
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with parents and caregivers, fostering cooperative and authentic connections to enhance the educational experience
- Passion for cultivating and sustaining strong, respectful relationships and trust with students, their families, and the broader community
Additional Information
- To qualify as a Teacher in Yukon, candidates must hold a Teacher Certification from another Canadian province or territory
- Successful candidates will be required to complete a Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check
