Located in the Electrical Division Edmonton (EDE), the Manufacturing Process Optimization Specialist will play a crucial role in enhancing production activities. This position involves instructing new team members on productivity, quality standards, and the execution of manufacturing processes. You will also implement assigned improvement initiatives and support various projects as directed by the Manufacturing Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing time entry and utilization for all shop personnel.

• Coordinating training sessions in collaboration with HSE, Quality, and HR departments.

• Developing and updating training materials and operating procedures specific to departmental processes while maintaining accurate training records.

• Overseeing time sheets and toolbox attendance records.

• Distributing documentation to relevant departments, including FLHAs, toolbox meetings, and Crane Inspections.

• Managing procurement items such as labels, stickers, lugs, gaskets, and other necessary components.

• Maintaining records for employee tools and toolboxes.

• Assisting shop employees with programs, processes, and maintenance tasks.

• Keeping calibration records for tools, including torque wrenches.

• Monitoring maintenance activities with external suppliers.

• Providing support in production areas as needed.

• Handling administrative programming tasks.

• Assisting with other department-specific production processes.

• Performing data entry for in-process inspections, discrepancy lists, and non-conformance documentation.

Core Competencies Required

The ideal candidate will be an organized self-starter with strong problem-solving skills. You should be capable of working independently under pressure while also thriving in a diverse, multi-disciplinary team environment.
To qualify for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

• 2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.

• Proficiency in PC usage and MS Windows software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Basic command of the English language, both written and verbal.

• Flexibility to perform additional duties as required.

• High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics, as well as mechanical drawings.

• Familiarity with department-specific tools and equipment.

• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles (Yellow Belt).

• Understanding of Continuous Improvement Principles.

Working Environment

This position is safety-sensitive and operates within a temperature-controlled manufacturing environment, with occasional outdoor tasks. Personal protective equipment is mandatory at all times (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety harnesses, and respirators when necessary). Ability to work from various types of ladders and scaffolding is required. Working at heights, typically not exceeding 30 feet, using appropriate lifting equipment.

Physical Demands

Must maintain balance and agility to prevent falls while performing tasks. Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive motion are necessary. Continuous standing and walking for extended periods, with limited sitting. Climbing stairs regularly throughout the shift is required. Frequent overhead work and the ability to exert force up to 50 lbs. Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools for extended periods is essential.
