As a key member of our telecommunications team, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining aerial and underground telephone equipment, testing equipment to locate transmission faults, and instructing apprentices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install and Maintain Equipment: Install and maintain aerial and underground telephone equipment, including trunking systems, circuits, and equipment.
  • Test and Troubleshoot: Test equipment to locate transmission faults and determine the nature, cause, and location of trouble.
  • Train and Mentor: Instruct apprentices and provide guidance on cable splicing and installation techniques.
  • Complete Reports: Complete and maintain test and service reports, including work assignments and progress.
Requirements:
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a related field.
  • Skills: Ability to climb and work aloft on poles, ladders, or other support structures, connect, disconnect, and relocate cable outlets, and determine work assignments.
Work Environment:

This is a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, requiring attention to detail and the ability to work in a combination of sitting, standing, and walking. The successful candidate will be physically demanding and able to handle heavy loads, bend, crouch, and kneel.
