Position Overview:

Reporting to the Senior Director of Model Validation and Risk Analytics, the Director will oversee valuation models that are critical for measuring market, credit, and liquidity risks. This includes models for derivatives, credit, fixed income, equity instruments, and alternative investments. The role involves contributing to the development and upkeep of risk models, focusing primarily on market risk, exposure measurement, and country and FX risk. Additionally, the Director will engage in policy development and compliance related to model risk governance and advise on suitable IT infrastructure for risk management. The position also includes providing analytical support to senior management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creation, validation, and deployment of valuation and risk models across various teams, including quantitative consultants, IT analysts, developers, and data specialists.
  • Establish and maintain adequate controls for model development and testing, ensuring documentation aligns with requirements from internal and external auditors.
  • Oversee the performance, training, and onboarding of team members involved in developing HOOPP's valuation and risk models.
  • Develop models using Python for both production and prototyping, validating these models and conducting ad-hoc analyses.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with other risk leaders and financial professionals in trading and finance to enhance risk and valuation model development.
  • Collaborate with IT and team members to create and implement models that utilize automated processing and production-level development practices.
  • Work closely with internal controls and external auditors during their review and validation of risk and valuation processes and models.
  • Identify innovative solutions for complex product valuation and risk calculations, particularly in alternative investments and exotic derivatives.
  • Provide senior management with analytical insights related to risk and valuation models.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in developing valuation and risk models for both alternative and capital market investments using Python.
  • Familiarity with third-party software for risk management, particularly for valuing financial instruments, is advantageous.
  • Experience in modeling alternative assets is preferred.
  • A Master's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Finance, or Actuarial Science.
  • Professional finance designation (CFA, FRM, PRM) is a plus.
  • At least 10 years of experience in quantitative finance.
  • Experience in project management across diverse teams.
  • Knowledge of best practices for model development at both the code level and in general methodologies.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship management skills, with the ability to foster and enhance relationships across various teams.
  • Capability to build and inspire a team of technical contributors.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
