Position Overview
The Finance Supervisor serves as the primary contact for all financial and accounting requirements at the project level. This role collaborates closely with both project and district management, offering valuable insights into the fiscal status of projects. Key responsibilities include: assessing construction job costs, conducting data analysis and reporting for management, overseeing budgeting and forecasting, and ensuring accurate revenue recognition. Additionally, the Finance Supervisor is tasked with the training, development, and oversight of all project business personnel.
District Overview
Kiewit's Western Canada District operates from a central office and is engaged in substantial civil engineering projects, with a focus on earth moving, transportation, road construction, bridges, water resource management, and underground utilities. Opportunities are available across the West Coast region.
Location
This position is full-time based in the district office.
Responsibilities
- Facilitates project forecast evaluations, leveraging historical data to substantiate forecasts while adhering to company standards for financial reporting.
- Assists the Operations team in decision-making by identifying and communicating financial risks and opportunities.
- Oversees employee performance by clearly defining roles and expectations, providing coaching, and delivering constructive feedback during performance assessments.
- Manages client invoicing, oversees accounts receivable and revenue, and reviews monthly project cash flow projections.
- Analyzes and comprehends prime contracts and change orders, including insurance, tax implications, payment terms, and labor regulations.
- Implements and adheres to internal controls, serving as the main contact for internal and external financial audits.
- Promotes continuous improvement within the organization and advocates for positive change.
- Builds trust and credibility with the Operations team to enhance communication and collaboration.
- Demonstrates a willingness to learn about field operations to better interpret and communicate financial data.
- Exhibits exceptional customer service skills, maintaining a positive and helpful demeanor.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial or data analysis.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Fundamental understanding of accounting principles, including general ledgers, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and taxation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with experience in Pivot Tables, V-Look Ups, and other essential functions.
- Experience with complex ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for financial reporting and forecasting.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) for presenting intricate financial analyses.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, along with excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities.
- Demonstrated work ethic and commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Ability to access all areas of a construction site freely.
- Willingness to travel or relocate as necessary.

Compensation
Base compensation ranges from $75,000 to $95,000, subject to variation based on education, experience, skills, and location.
