Bakery Supervisor Job Summary

The Bakery Supervisor plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our bakery department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and efficient work environment, providing exceptional customer service, and supervising a team of Bakery Utility Clerks and General Utility Clerks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional customer service and maintain positive customer relations through effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Plan and execute all aspects of bakery functions, including inventory management, display presentation, and equipment operation.
  • Handle merchandise with care, minimizing damages and markdowns, and ensuring price integrity.
  • Perform general clean-up duties, including cleaning spills and display fixtures, to maintain a clean and organized department.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety, Food Safety, and Environmental regulations and policies.
  • Supervise and train staff in the bakery department, including providing technical training and coaching.
  • Participate in performance management, including verbal coaching, written work record documentation, and preparation of performance reviews.
  • Assist in the development of department work plans, yearly budgets, and leading meetings.
Requirements:
  • Grade 12 education or acceptable combination of experience and education.
  • Six (6) months of bakery or equivalent retail experience, with strong product knowledge.
  • Basic receiving, ordering, and merchandising skills.
  • Basic Word, Excel, and Outlook skills.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Related post-secondary education.
  • Experience in supervising others, planning, and organizing events, projects, or programs.
  • Kronos knowledge.
