Job Title: Family Support Worker

At WJS Canada, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Support Worker to join our team. As a Family Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing home-based services to promote the well-being of youth and children in their homes, as well as parent support and education, aimed at family protection and preservation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Travel to family homes and communities in the service area to provide support and services.
  • Work with Children's Services staff to develop and implement case management plans.
  • Establish trusting relationships with youth, children, and families to promote interpersonal, communication skills, and daily living skills.
  • Connect children and families with support networks, outside agencies, and community resources.
  • Follow prescribed case management plans and maintain accurate client file and program documentation.
Requirements:
  • Social Work Diploma or Degree in Social Work, Youth Work, Social Service Worker, Addictions, etc.
  • 2+ years of social work experience in family support/intervention, youth work, trauma, etc.
  • Previous experience in developing community events and projects to engage with youth and families is desirable.
  • Knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act.
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal culture is an asset.
  • Suicide Intervention and Prevention Training and cultural sensitivity.
  • Clear Criminal Record and Child Welfare Intervention check.
  • Driver's License, vehicle with appropriate insurance, and clean driver's abstract.
  • First Aid/CPR Certificate.
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently.
