Family Support Specialist

At WJS Canada, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Support Worker to join our team. As a Family Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing home-based services to promote the well-being of youth and children in their homes, as well as parent support and education, aimed at family protection and preservation.
Key Responsibilities:- Travel to family homes and communities in the service area to provide support and services.
- Work with Children's Services staff to develop and implement case management plans.
- Establish trusting relationships with youth, children, and families to promote interpersonal, communication, and daily living skills.
- Connect children and families with support networks, outside agencies, and community resources.
- Follow prescribed case management plans and maintain accurate client file and program documentation.
- Social Work Diploma or Degree in Social Work, Youth Work, Social Service Worker, Addictions, etc.
- 2+ years of social work experience in family support/intervention, youth work, trauma, etc.
- Previous experience in developing community events and projects to engage with youth and families is desirable.
- Knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act.
- Knowledge of Aboriginal culture is an asset.
- Suicide Intervention and Prevention Training and cultural sensitivity.
- Clear Criminal Record and Child Welfare Intervention check.
- Driver's License, vehicle with appropriate insurance, and clean driver's abstract.
- First Aid/CPR Certificate.
- Highly motivated and able to work independently.
