Role Overview: The Terminal Manager is accountable for all operational aspects to guarantee efficiency, timely deliveries, and adherence to safety standards. This position requires effective leadership and a proactive management style to enhance terminal performance, execute strategic initiatives, achieve objectives, and promote employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with various departments and terminals to remove obstacles in the movement of equipment and freight, optimizing usage while minimizing costs.
  • Oversee daily terminal operations, ensuring performance, quality, and service standards are upheld, including monitoring cleanliness and ensuring timely order deliveries.
  • Manage staff relationships and performance, fostering a culture of trust, open communication, and accountability.
  • Compile reports on performance metrics, freight damages, incidents, customer interactions, and employee feedback to inform decision-making.
  • Coordinate with the Director of NS to anticipate equipment and staffing requirements based on volume and customer demand.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, training protocols, and organizational policies.

Technical Proficiencies:

  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with the TruckMate system is advantageous.

Working Environment:

  • Fast-paced terminal and office setting.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • High volume of communication through various channels.

Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of five years in the transportation and logistics sector or a related field, or a combination of relevant experience and education.
  • At least two years in a supervisory role within a terminal environment.
  • Knowledge of the road transportation industry, particularly in Atlantic Canada, is a plus.
