Role Overview: Temporary Educational Assistant

The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board (WECDSB) is seeking candidates for the position of Temporary Educational Assistant. This role is pivotal in providing support to students with unique needs in both Elementary and Secondary educational settings. The focus is on fostering an inclusive, positive, and secure learning atmosphere where every student has the opportunity to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with exceptional needs, ensuring they receive the necessary support to succeed academically and socially.
  • Work collaboratively with educators and other staff to create a nurturing environment conducive to learning.
  • Be available for on-call assignments throughout the week, contributing to various schools across the district.

Qualifications:

  • A secondary school diploma alongside a two or three-year Community College Diploma in relevant fields such as Child & Youth Care, Educational Support, or equivalent qualifications.
  • 1-2 years of experience working with school-aged children with special needs.
  • Physical capability to assist with tasks including lifting and personal care as necessary.
  • Current certifications in Behaviour Management Systems, First Aid, and CPR are advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Understanding and appreciation of the values of Catholic Education.
  • A valid driver's license is required for this position.
