Your Role
Our Transmission team is seeking skilled Transmission Line Engineers to work from any Stantec office across North America.
As a seasoned transmission line engineer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering power solutions for our clients. Key Responsibilities
Technical Execution
- Engineer power transmission line projects from initial design through to construction.
- Prepare engineering and design deliverables for transmission lines, including conceptual designs, criteria documentation, line layouts, structural configurations, loading analyses, structure designs, conductor and overhead ground wire assessments, and material selections.
- Utilize PLS-CADD for transmission line modeling, profiling, structure spotting, and the preparation of necessary design calculations, reports, and drawings.
- Model, analyze, design, and optimize new or existing transmission structures using PLS-TOWER, PLS-POLE, and other finite element modeling software.
- Conduct route alignment and line layout studies.
- Prepare technical reports, project scopes, specifications, and line construction documents.
- Provide material quantity estimates for transmission lines.
- Offer engineering and technical support to field crews during construction, including site supervision.
- Engage in discussions with clients and contractors, coordinating with various disciplines for successful project implementation.
Business Development
- Contribute to winning strategies and successful project execution while being actively involved in key pursuits.
- Enhance Stantec's visibility by sharing our knowledge and innovation stories through key client interactions.
- Assist in maintaining and monitoring the opportunity pipeline to optimize business development strategies.

Qualifications
Capabilities and Credentials
- Proficient in PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-TOWER.
- Familiarity with international and North American transmission line industry standards such as IEC, IEEE, ASCE, Cigre, CSA, and NESC.
- Experience in developing design drawings for various transmission structure types.
- Knowledge of transmission line materials including structures, conductors, OPGW, insulators, and fittings.
- Strong understanding of project management systems.
- Additional beneficial capabilities include:
- Experience in designing foundations for transmission line structures.
- Experience in HV underground and submarine cable design.
- Ability to perform electrical studies for transmission lines.
- Experience with GIS mapping software.
- Knowledge of Canadian utility standards and design practices.
Education and Experience
- Degree in Structural, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng or PE) registration with any North American Engineering Association.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in transmission line design and engineering within utilities, EPC, or consulting firms.
