The Northwest Territories Power Corporation is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join their team. As a key member of the Hydro Mechanical Services Team, the successful candidate will perform advanced mechanical work and system diagnostics in support of diesel generation and hydro generation.
Responsibilities- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, generators, and auxiliary equipment.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of the Health & Safety program, Environment program, and NTPC's safety culture.
- Collaborate with team members to determine generation program objectives, provide input to group financial and program planning, and assess and coordinate unit workload and priorities.
- Complete and/or assist with scheduled overhauls in a timely and professional manner according to Corporation and Manufacturer standards.
- Conduct routine trips to remote satellite plants for inspection, preventative maintenance, installation, and repairs to equipment.
- Provide accurate assessment of equipment and diesel plants, troubleshoot various mechanical problems, and provide guidance and training to operational staff.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensure compliance to all safety programs, health and safety legislation, and Corporation Safety Rules.
- Journeyperson Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic with three years' experience at the journeyperson level in an industrial or commercial setting.
- Valid NWT Class 5 driver's license or equivalent required.
- Ability to diagnose problems and propose solutions, interpret drawings, diagrams, and specifications of mechanical equipment, and communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
- Ability to work in a team environment and maintain excellent knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
