Criminal Information Centre Operator

Join the City of Calgary in our commitment to public service and community safety. We are seeking a dedicated Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) Operator to support our Transit Public Safety Officers in their vital work.

As a CPIC Operator, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Entering, auditing, and monitoring records related to individuals involved in criminal activities for investigative purposes.
  • Utilizing a 10-Code communication system effectively.
  • Responding to inquiries via radio, telephone, and CPIC messaging.
  • Providing critical information to ensure the safety of both officers and the public.
  • Facilitating information exchange with field personnel and external agencies, including Peace Officers and Police.
  • Maintaining the integrity and security of all operational systems.
  • Assessing the accuracy of information to assist law enforcement agencies in serious investigations across Canada.

Qualifications:

  • A High School diploma or equivalent (GED) along with a minimum of one year of experience in law enforcement support.
  • Proficiency in the CPIC system is essential.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and a typing speed of at least 50 words per minute.
  • Completion of an RCMP CPIC Operator Certificate or CPIC Query/Narrative Course Certificate is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and listening abilities, coupled with critical thinking and decision-making skills.
