Technical Lead Software Engineering

At AutoTrader, we're seeking a highly skilled Technical Lead to join our software engineering team. As a Technical Lead, you will be responsible for guiding and mentoring your team members in the technical aspects of their jobs, ensuring the successful delivery of projects and the adoption of best practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead the technical direction of projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical feasibility.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize technical debt, ensuring the stability and performance of our systems.
  3. Mentor and coach team members in software development best practices, coding standards, and technical skills.
  4. Participate in agile engineering ceremonies, such as stand-ups, retrospectives, and architecture/design reviews.
  5. Act as a bridge between developers and quality personnel, ensuring a quality-first approach to software development.
  6. Represent AutoTrader in external partnerships, designing, building, and resolving issues with third-party integrations.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in the online software industry, with a strong understanding of web-based application architectures using C# and.NET.
  • At least 1 year of proven experience in a technical leadership role, with expertise in agile methodologies and Kanban.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to conceptualize technical solutions and relay them to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Passion for coaching and owning best practices within the team, fostering a culture of engineering excellence.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with enterprise-scale high-velocity queues, such as Microsoft Azure.
  • Expert-level experience developing in a microservice-oriented architecture, utilizing RESTful APIs and tools like Azure API Management and Azure Key Vault.
  • Strong knowledge of relational and non-relational data stores, such as Azure Table Storage, Blobs, Oracle, SQL, and Redis.
  • Experience with front-end tools, such as Angular, HTML, or React.js, to build component-based frontend web apps.
  • Ability to work with source code management and delivery platforms, such as Azure DevOps, JIRA, and SonarQube, in a distributed team environment.
