Registered Forensic Nurse – Class A

Forensic nurses possess a comprehensive understanding of provincial and federal regulations concerning trauma, criminal acts, and violence. They deliver prompt, empathetic, and impartial care to individuals affected by sexual assault, domestic abuse, and child maltreatment. Their responsibilities may encompass forensic evaluations, pregnancy and STI prevention, injury analysis, risk assessment, safety planning, crisis intervention, referrals for suitable medical and psychological follow-up, and assistance during legal processes.
Candidates must reflect on their personal beliefs, attitudes, and biases that could impede their capacity to provide unbiased care while recognizing the impact of trauma.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Current registration with the Nurses Association of New Brunswick or eligibility;
- Valid SANE certification or prior SANE certification with relevant forensic nursing experience within the last three years, with a commitment to obtaining certification within the next six months;
- Completion of mandatory training in SIR and possession of certificates in CCSIT, SARP, and ACLS is advantageous;
- Experience in an emergency department is beneficial;
- Proven leadership capabilities;
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and proficiency in delivering trauma-informed care;
- Strong clinical evaluation, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities;
- Capability to produce clear and concise documentation;
- Advanced skills in speculum vaginal examinations or a willingness to pursue necessary training;
- Independence and adaptability;
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities;
- Competence in conducting initial and ongoing patient assessments (clinical and diagnostic reasoning) and providing nursing care through appropriate technical, therapeutic, and safety interventions;
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and work autonomously;
- Physical ability to fulfill assigned duties;
- Strong work history (performance and attendance);
- Commitment to professional ethics, the management philosophy of Vitalité Health Network, and organizational values;
- Adherence to the confidentiality policies of Vitalité Health Network.
- The aforementioned qualifications may be verified through oral, written, or practical assessments as part of the selection process.
