Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement HSE Systems: Design, plan, and implement overall safety management systems to ensure proactive management and continuous improvement in operational performance.
- Training and Education: Create and deliver training materials to promote a safe work environment for employees.
- HSE Policy and Procedure Development: Document, maintain, and communicate HSE policies, standards, procedures, and best practices.
- Health and Safety Reporting: Support the development, implementation, and analysis of health and safety reporting systems.
- Benchmarking and Performance Tracking: Monitor and communicate HSE performance metrics.
- Program Development and Implementation: Identify, assess, and implement HSE programs and new technologies to improve operations and HSE performance.
- Policy and Procedure Review: Review and update policies, procedures, and work practices to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- HSE Excellence Recognition: Recognize and reward employees for outstanding HSE performance.
- Health and Safety Program Delivery: Ensure health and safety programs are delivered in accordance with corporate and client requirements, as well as applicable laws and regulations.
- Incident Investigation and Analysis: Participate in incident investigations and WCB claim processes.
- Legislative Compliance: Remain current on all HSE-related legislation.
- Business Planning and Management: Assist in department business planning and management to integrate safety issues into day-to-day activities.
- NCSO Certification: Must hold a valid NCSO certification.
- Post-Secondary Education: Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety is considered an asset.
- Industry Experience: Previous experience directly related to safety in the upstream oil and gas, oil sands, or heavy construction industries.
- Driver's License: Valid Class 5 Driver's License is required.
- Safety Training: CSTS and OSSA Regional Orientation or OSSA BSO (Basic Safety Orientation before December 31, 2018) or CSO (Common Safety Orientation after January 1, 2019).
- Communication and Facilitation Skills: Above-average communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
- Computer Skills: Strong computer skills, with advanced use of Excel and Word.
- Knowledge of OH&S Regulations: Knowledge of all relevant OH&S regulations and safety codes, and ability to interpret and communicate them.
- Self-Motivation and Organization: Must be self-motivated with excellent organization skills.
- Language Proficiency: All applicants must have the ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English.
