Key Responsibilities:

As an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer reporting to the Lead of Mechanical Engineering, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing mechanical engineering services as assigned, with the authority to stamp engineering designs and specifications within the relevant jurisdiction;
  • Reviewing, approving, and stamping mechanical engineering work packages as necessary;
  • Ensuring that all engineering work packages are complete and verified, regardless of their phase;
  • Maintaining technical accuracy and soundness in engineering calculations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements applicable to project deliverables;
  • Coordinating with all stakeholders to deliver a cohesive engineering work package;
  • Assisting in the governance and implementation of VTEK policies, standards, and procedures for the Electrical & Instrumentation engineering and design team;
  • Identifying and resolving technical issues during the review process;
  • Participating in the design of plans, specifications, and details based on recommendations from relevant inspection reports;
  • Conducting verification and validation calculations to ensure plans meet client requirements and comply with codes and regulations;
  • Providing engineering mitigation strategies for identified risks or issues;
  • Applying lessons learned and best practices to promote continuous improvement;
  • Reviewing project proposals and analyzing engineering parameters to meet stakeholder needs;
  • Staying updated with the latest engineering design principles, materials, and best practices;
  • Collaborating with technicians, draftsmen, and junior staff on assigned projects.

Additionally, you will support other duties and participate in VTEK's strategic and management planning as required.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer;
  • At least 5 years of experience in the oil and gas sector;
  • Possession of a Canadian P. Eng. title is strongly preferred;
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills;
  • Strong customer relations abilities;
  • Proven capability to influence others, building trust and credibility.
