Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse

Job Summary:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in providing safe and effective nursing care to patients in a busy and diverse medical unit. As a member of the healthcare team, the LPN is responsible for observing, monitoring, and reporting changes in patients' physical, mental, and emotional states. The LPN must be able to work effectively in a team environment, communicate clearly with patients and families, and make sound clinical judgments.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursing care to patients in accordance with hospital policies and nursing care standards.
  • Observe and monitor patients' physical, mental, and emotional states, and report any changes to the healthcare team.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living and provide relevant information and teaching to patients and families.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to deliver consistent quality care and meet the needs of patients.
  • Work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Make sound clinical judgments and use initiative to resolve problems and make decisions.

Requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
  • 2 years of recent acute adult experience.
  • Palliative nursing care experience is an asset.
  • Computer experience is preferred.
