Overview
The Associate Physician (AP) Inpatient Clinical Care role at Providence Health Care is a dynamic opportunity for a medical professional to provide high-quality patient care in a team-based environment.
Responsibilities
- Participate in patient rounds under the supervision of the Attending physician and other care team members.
- Assess and manage the day-to-day care of patients, including writing medical orders and responding to changing patient conditions.
- Perform and document admission history and physical examinations, progress notes, discharge summaries, and medication reconciliation.
- Develop treatment plans in response to changing patient conditions and follow through on investigations.
- Communicate with patients, family members, and other care team members regarding patient care plans.
- Perform procedures within the scope of their demonstrated competence, including phlebotomy, wound assessment, and insertion of central venous catheters.
Requirements
- Medical degree from a school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools.
- Minimum of two years of accredited postgraduate training as a medical or surgical specialist.
- Successful completion of Part 1 of the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) or Steps 1 through 3 of the United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLEs).
- English language proficiency requirements.
- Eligibility for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC) in the AP class.
