Electrical Superintendent Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Superintendent to join our team at Kiewit. As an Electrical Superintendent, you will play a key role in the success of our projects, overseeing the electrical aspects of construction and ensuring that our work meets the highest standards of quality and safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Mentor and develop junior superintendents to ensure the success of our projects
  • Review and approve labor rates for foremen, journeymen, and laborers
  • Manage contract administration, including subcontractor and field management meetings
  • Develop and implement programs to maintain good client relations
  • Initiate and attend meetings with clients to resolve problems and plan for project completion
  • Oversee and approve monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections
  • Review, approve, and negotiate change orders
  • Develop and implement plans for project completion and turnover
  • Maintain daily diaries for record-keeping purposes
  • Ensure timely completion of performance evaluations for direct reports
  • Recommend organizational, policy, and procedural changes as needed
  • Review and approve or reject promotions up to general foremen

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of construction experience, with 8+ years in an electrical superintendent or leadership capacity
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand various processes, including Kiewit's policies, procedures, and software programs
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong experience in leadership, safety, negotiations, planning, and contract administration
  • Functional knowledge of English (written and verbal) is considered an asset, as mobility across provinces in Canada is required

Other Requirements:

  • Regular, reliable attendance
  • Work productively and meet deadlines timely
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
  • Perform work safely and effectively, understanding and following oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies
  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines, with the ability to work overtime and weekends as required
