Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and supporting project HSE plans, regulatory requirements, and other safe work practices. This is a regular full-time position based in Montréal, Quebec.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and support project HSE plans, regulatory requirements, and other safe work practices.
- Identify, evaluate, develop, and deliver project-specific HSE training and assist with the development of district-specific training.
- Implement district HSE communication strategies on projects.
- Build processes, evaluate, and advise on hazard identification.
- Lead project HSE inspections and monitor the quality and effectiveness of inspections and trade safety plans.
- Work with project teams to provide recommendations regarding corrective actions of systemic issues.
- Develop and evaluate the efficiency of the project emergency response plan, site-specific security requirements, and the environmental plan.
- Monitor and audit trade partner HSE performance.
- Participate in on-site investigative processes and provide recommendations for and evaluating corrective actions taken.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders.
- Supervise, coach, train, and mentor HSE Coordinators and other employees.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
- Holds safety designation.
- 7 years' experience in a health and safety role in a related industry. 2 years' experience in a supervisory role is an asset.
- Strong working knowledge of applicable OH&S and environmental legislation and HSE processes.
- Conflict resolution skills, with the ability to problem-solve.
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to develop, influence, and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
- Strong working knowledge of construction processes and terminology.
- Solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
