About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Assistant to join our team at the YMCA of Simcoe-Muskoka. As a key member of our childcare team, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and nurturing environment for children to grow and develop.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care to children, including toileting, first aid, and administering medication as needed.
  • Engage with children in a group setting, ensuring their safety and supervision at all times.
  • Plan and implement play-based learning activities in accordance with the YMCA Curriculum.
  • Communicate effectively with families, staff, and volunteers to ensure a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Support children with exceptional behaviors and additional needs, promoting their social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Adhere to work schedules, ensuring program ratios are maintained and providing adequate notice for scheduling changes.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced childcare environment.
Requirements
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR (Level C) certification or completion within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Up-to-date immunizations or equivalent in accordance with local public health and Child Care Early Years Act.
  • Availability to work Monday to Friday, 25 hours per week, between 6:30am and 6:00pm.
  • Passion for working with children and providing quality play-based learning.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with families, staff, and volunteers.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 kg, and participate in physical activities.
  • Ability to work outdoors for at least 2 hours daily, in all weather conditions.
