AECOM is seeking a Municipal Engineer to join our Water group. This position offers the flexibility to work from various offices within the Greater Toronto Area.
The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding and extensive experience in civil engineering, civil technology, and construction management principles, particularly in the context of municipal infrastructure design and execution. The role requires effective collaboration within a team environment and the ability to communicate clearly with project team members and clients. A strong initiative, motivation, and a proactive approach to completing tasks are essential. The engineer will play a key role in delivering infrastructure solutions primarily in the municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate knowledge of water, wastewater, and drainage conveyance systems in a municipal context.
- Design civil systems related to municipal water and/or wastewater and drainage facilities.
- Conduct constructability reviews and construction inspections.
- Oversee construction contract administration.
- Prepare documentation for design projects and comprehensive reports.
- Estimate construction costs accurately.
- Develop project specifications and contract documents.
- Engage in client communication and management, assist in proposal preparation, contract negotiation, and coordination with regulatory bodies; contribute to project planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in civil engineering, design, construction inspection, or contract administration.
- Experience with municipal water, wastewater, and/or stormwater conveyance and pumping infrastructure projects.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite.
- Registered as P.Eng in Ontario.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills with colleagues, contractors, and clients.
- Able to thrive in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Experience in project management is advantageous.
- Familiarity with proposal writing and job scoping is beneficial.
- Knowledge of systems related to lift stations, pump stations, and mechanical equipment for water and wastewater utilities is a plus.
- Experience with trenchless technologies is an asset.
