About Wellspring Alberta: Wellspring Alberta is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting, informing, and empowering individuals diagnosed with cancer. We aim to help them navigate the fear, isolation, and practical challenges that cancer can introduce into their lives. As an affiliate of the Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation, we offer a wide array of programs, support, and resources designed to enhance the quality of life for those affected by cancer and their caregivers. All our services are evidence-informed and provided free of charge, available both in-person and online.

Our Mission: At Wellspring Alberta, we envision a world where no one faces cancer alone. Our initiatives are made possible through the generosity of donors and the dedication of our volunteers and staff.

  • Adhere to the leadership standards and policies as outlined in Wellspring's Program Leader's Guide.
  • Create a nurturing and welcoming atmosphere for participants. The group leader is responsible for overseeing the group dynamics.
  • Provide guidance and support to volunteers assisting with the program, in collaboration with program coordinators.
  • Maintain attendance records and handle administrative tasks as required.
  • Address any participant needs or concerns by liaising with Wellspring staff.
  • Engage in a culture of philanthropy, recognizing its importance for program sustainability.
  • Communicate important announcements to participants regarding upcoming initiatives or events.

Qualifications:
  • A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • A professional background in a relevant field (e.g., social work, nursing, psychology, education) and membership in the governing body of the profession as applicable.
  • Experience in a healthcare or allied health setting, particularly in cancer care, is advantageous.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in leading groups within a supportive care framework.
Application Process:

Interested candidates are encouraged to submit their cover letter and resume. Please note that this position will remain open until suitable candidates are identified. We appreciate all applications; however, only those selected for interviews will be contacted.

Diversity and Inclusion:

Wellspring Alberta is committed to fostering an inclusive environment. We strive to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve and encourage applications from individuals belonging to underrepresented groups, including BIPOC individuals, LGBTQ2S+ individuals, persons with disabilities, and others from equity-seeking backgrounds.

We welcome discussions regarding accessibility and accommodations throughout the recruitment process. We recognize that not all candidates may meet every requirement, and we encourage those who are passionate about the role to apply.

Thank you for considering a position with Wellspring Alberta. We look forward to receiving your application.
