Position Overview
As the Head of Corporate and Financial Systems, you will be instrumental in defining the operational strategies and enhancement initiatives that empower the organization's financial and corporate functions. You will oversee a dedicated team tasked with the architecture, execution, and upkeep of systems and processes that promote efficiency, precision, and compliance across diverse divisions.
Key Responsibilities
Spearhead the strategic development and execution of corporate and financial systems aimed at maximizing efficiency, accuracy, and regulatory compliance. Collaborate with essential stakeholders across various departments to capture business needs and convert them into effective technical solutions. Assess current systems and workflows to pinpoint enhancement opportunities and implement modifications to optimize operations and boost productivity. Oversee system upgrades, transitions, and integrations to guarantee smooth functionality and compatibility with other technological systems. Support the Accounting teams in communicating standards for financial system usage. Aid business units in formulating corporate and financial policies, procedures, and controls to uphold data integrity, security, and compliance with regulations. Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to the corporate and financial systems team, cultivating a culture of teamwork, innovation, and ongoing improvement. Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices concerning corporate and financial systems, offering recommendations for appropriate adoption or adaptation. Enhance Seaspan's ERP system and identify avenues for refining business processes. Manage and uphold the user security framework, addressing requests for role modifications and ensuring the integrity of duty segregation. Define project requirements and develop implementation plans. Lead the rollout of new initiatives that may span the organization, including system upgrades and training tool deployment. Offer leadership and technical expertise at the intersection of accounting and financial systems. Design and implement an end-user training framework for accounting personnel.Qualifications
Professional designation CPA (CA, CMA, CGA) is mandatory. A minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a comparable role, demonstrating a consistent record of success in leading the development and execution of corporate and financial systems. Experience in managing IT support teams. Proven track record in executing large-scale ERP transformation projects (e.g., Oracle, JD Edwards, IFS). Comprehensive knowledge of corporate and financial systems, including ERP systems (e.g., Oracle JD Edwards, IFS), financial reporting systems, budgeting, and forecasting tools. Strong grasp of financial processes, accounting principles, and regulatory standards. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the capability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all organizational levels. Demonstrated ability to lead projects, prioritize tasks, and manage resources effectively in a dynamic environment. Relevant certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA, PMP, ITIL) are advantageous. Familiarity with Canadian ASPE, GAAP, and related financial reporting standards. Knowledge of best practices in accounting, reporting, financial services, taxation, and financial planning & analysis. Understanding of business process documentation, improvement, and redesign. Knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices. Familiarity with ERP (Oracle, JDE, or equivalent) Business Systems. Insight into data quality best practices and integration techniques. Proficiency in analytical techniques and financial concepts to address complex challenges. Understanding of manufacturing and/or transportation sectors, preferably shipbuilding/marine. Strong verbal and written communication, presentation, and active listening skills. Proficient in MS-Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio). Strong strategic thinking capabilities, with the ability to foresee future trends and challenges in the corporate and financial landscape. Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with a clear and direct approach to conveying vision and objectives to the team. Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to gather relevant data, analyze it, and make timely, informed decisions that benefit the organization.Benefits
This is a full-time, permanent role offering job stability as Seaspan continues to build ships for the future. In addition to an annual bonus and pension plan matching, this position offers a competitive salary commensurate with the successful candidate's experience. Parking is included, and a complimentary shuttle service operates Monday through Friday with various pick-up and drop-off points.The estimated salary for this position ranges from $162,000 to $198,000, with final salary determined by various factors including the candidate's experience and internal equity.
