Position Overview

The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) is on the lookout for a distinguished leader to take on the role of Vice-President of Academic Excellence & Quality Assurance.

Role Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Vice President Academic, the Vice-President of Academic Excellence & Quality Assurance will lead strategic academic and administrative initiatives to fulfill the Academic Plan and NAIT's overarching objectives in alignment with its Vision, Promises, and Values.

As a key member of the Academic Leadership Team, the Vice-President will play a vital role in shaping the Institute's direction through contributions to academic and business planning, strategic academic initiatives, financial management, and performance metrics. This position will set the strategic vision and oversee essential services within the academic portfolio, focusing on program quality, academic integrity, operational efficiency, and apprenticeship services.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. External Engagements
    • Foster and enhance partnerships with other educational institutions to promote collaborative initiatives.
    • Develop effective relationships with local, regional, and provincial authorities to support the portfolio's objectives.
  2. Internal Leadership
    • Provide visionary leadership to nurture a culture of innovation and excellence in academic quality.
    • Promote collaborative relationships across NAIT to ensure equitable support for students and internal stakeholders.
    • Oversee centralized services and establish strategic direction within the academic portfolio.
    • Manage the overall budget for the portfolio and ensure effective administration of its functions.
    • Offer mentorship and leadership development as part of succession planning efforts.

The successful candidate will possess exceptional communication skills, comprehensive knowledge of academic and administrative leadership in a post-secondary context, and a strong commitment to developing others. This role requires an understanding of diverse issues, including educational theory, human resource management, quality assurance practices, business administration, research methodologies, and financial management principles.

Qualifications:

  • Recent experience in a senior leadership position within a complex organization, leading a large, high-performing team.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in an academic institution.
  • Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.

Willingness to travel nationally and internationally may be required, along with the flexibility to work extended hours during peak periods.

Compensation: $178,236,409.16 annually, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package.
