Job Title: Water Systems Operator

Job Summary:

The Water Systems Operator is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the water treatment systems at West Edmonton Mall. This includes monitoring chemical levels, maintaining filtration systems, and ensuring compliance with Alberta Pool Standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain chemical levels in the water treatment systems to ensure compliance with Alberta Pool Standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance on filtration systems, including cleaning pump strainers and replacing filter media as needed.
  • Assist with the safe delivery of chlorine gas to the required systems and change chlorine tonner and cylinders as necessary.
  • Conduct daily routine assessment rounds to check the status of chemistry, water levels, and chemical tank levels.
  • Document all tasks and occurrences throughout the workday.
  • Ensure all housekeeping is completed daily, including cleaning of filter rooms, pump rooms, and shops.
  • Maintain accurate records of all tasks and occurrences.
  • Foster a positive and helpful attitude with co-workers, other departments, and outside contractors.
  • Respond to all incoming inquiries via phone and email.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in the aquatics profession or industry is an asset.
  • Certifications in workplace hazardous materials information systems (WHMIS), Respiratory Fit Testing, Confined Space Management, SCBA & SCBA Fit Testing, Forklift, Fall Protection, Lockout/Tagout, or related courses in safety practices are a definite asset.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights, and possess strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Terms of Employment:

  • This is a full-time position requiring a flexible work schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • On-call as required.
  • Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
