Job Summary

We are currently seeking a skilled Grinding Operator to join our team in Hawkesbury, Ontario. As a Grinding Operator, you will be responsible for performing a series of operations under the general direction of the Production Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform grinding operations on non-metallic materials such as rubber, polyurethane, and fiberglass cover.
  • Inspect journals for score marks or any damage and report to the supervisor.
  • Clean the babbitt post and ensure the supporting surface is round and concentric with the bearing surface.
  • Position and secure the cylinder with a universal joint and steady rest.
  • Align and level the roll.
  • Ensure all specifications on the work order match the roll and/or blueprint.
  • Define which grinding wheel or belt to use.
  • Program the crown when applicable.
  • Remove nylon binders when applicable.
  • Engage the work feed.
  • Program the control to adjust the depth of removal, grinding speed, and feed rates.

Requirements

  • Previous experience is not required, but operator experience is an asset.
  • Mechanically inclined individuals are an asset.
  • Basic computer skills are required for data entry and inputting measurements into the machine program.
  • Polyvalent, motivated individuals with a keen eye for quality and a focus on safety are preferred.
  • Functional knowledge of the imperial measure system is required.
  • Availability for day and afternoon rotating shifts is necessary.
  • A pre-hire medical examination is required as part of our hiring process.
