We are currently searching for a talented individual to fill the position of Grinding Operator at our Hawkesbury plant in Ontario.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a series of operations under the general direction of the Production Supervisor.
  • Grind wheels or belt grind non-metallic materials such as rubber, polyurethane, and fiberglass cover.
  • Inspect journals for score marks or any damage and report to the supervisor.
  • Clean the babbitt post.
  • Ensure the supporting surface is round and concentric with the bearing surface.
  • Position and secure the cylinder with a universal joint and both steady rest.
  • Align and level the roll.
  • Ensure all specifications on the work order match the roll and/or blueprint.
  • Define which grinding wheel or belt to use.
  • Program the crown when applicable.
  • Remove nylon binders when applicable.
  • Engage the work feed.
  • Program the control to adjust the depth of removal, grinding speed, and feed rates.

Your Ideal Profile

  • No previous experience is required, but operator experience is an asset.
  • A mechanically inclined person is an asset.
  • Basic computer skills are required for data entry to input measurements into the machine program.
  • You should be a polyvalent, motivated individual with a keen eye for quality and a focus on safety.
  • Functional knowledge of the imperial measure system is required.
  • You must be available for day and afternoon rotating shifts.
  • As part of our hiring process, we require a pre-hire medical examination.
