Job Summary

We are seeking a self-motivated Process Engineer to join our team at our Niagara PVC plant in Ontario, Canada. As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining the safety and environmental integrity of our operations, identifying and implementing process improvements, and providing engineering assistance to operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of employees, customers, and communities.
  • Identify, evaluate, develop, specify, justify, install, and start-up process improvements to increase production capacity, improve operating reliability, reduce manufacturing costs, reduce energy usage, improve sustainability, conserve raw materials, improve product yields, and improve product quality.
  • Participate in opportunities to enhance safety, upgrade environmental safeguards, and optimize process operation.
  • Provide ongoing engineering assistance to operations, including troubleshooting process operating problems, conducting special tests, developing reports, providing technical assistance, and reporting production status.
  • Coordinate between Production, Project, Maintenance, and Corporate Engineering Departments regarding capital project implementation, including preparation of AFEs.
  • Represent and/or assist production and engineering in matters of evaluation, selection, and coordination of vendors supplying necessary operating services, consulting services, materials, equipment, and other needs of operation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering with relevant experience in a chemical/manufacturing environment.
  • Commitment to safety and environmental considerations in engineering design, recommendations, and operability.
  • Ability to communicate with a broad spectrum of plant and corporate personnel in a multi-disciplined team environment.
  • Self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision but deliver superior results.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak in English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and respond to callouts on a non-routine basis.
  • Physical requirements: must be able to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs, walk, bend, and stoop.
Desired Qualifications
  • PVC manufacturing experience.
  • Good working knowledge of SAP.
  • Proficiency in engineering software packages such as OSI PI ProcessBook, ASPEN, PipeFlo, iPRISM software.
  • Strong knowledge of Process Safety Management requirements and process risk analysis (PHA, LOPA, Fault Tree Analysis, Relief valve sizing calculations).
  • Distributed Control Systems (DCS) programming, Delta V.
  • Understanding of the MOC (Management of Change) program.
