Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all TBM mechanical operations, including assembly, start-up, maintenance, and disassembly.
- Ensure compliance with method statements and specifications from the TBM supplier.
- Adhere to safety and environmental regulations while maintaining project quality standards.
- Prepare and manage documentation related to TBM maintenance.
- Supervise a team of TBM mechanics and manage spare parts inventory.
- Collaborate constructively with other departments.
- Support troubleshooting and preventive maintenance efforts.
- Plan and organize future mechanical operations.
- Conduct daily inspections and submit maintenance reports.
- Coordinate with the TBM Electrical team for ongoing and future projects.
- Ensure Method Statements and Risk Assessments are established for mechanical works.
- Audit plant operations to maintain optimal performance in line with Canadian Standards.
- Facilitate effective shift handovers.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Trade qualification in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
- 2-3 years of experience in civil or tunneling construction, with supervisory experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data management.
- Experience working on TBM projects.
- Familiarity with major infrastructure construction operations.
- Knowledge of Safety, Community, and Environmental Management.
- Experience in Quality Management.
- Planning and Resourcing expertise.
- In-depth knowledge of TBM, slurry pumps, and related tunnel equipment.
- Understanding of civil construction materials and local WHS standards.
- Ability to lead a team and collaborate with safety and other departments.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a positive attitude.
- Proficient in Microsoft software packages.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Mechanical or Electrical Trade background.
- Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks under pressure.
- Good organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Valid driving license.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly wage of $53, with additional shift premiums for shift workers.
- 37.5 hours per week, with potential for overtime.
- Members receive Vacation & Statutory Holiday Pay, Health & Welfare Benefits, Pension, and a Total Wage Package of $76.55 per hour.
Working Conditions and Environment
- Primary work location with travel required throughout Ontario.
- Exposure to construction environments in all seasons.
- Relocation within Canada may be necessary, with costs covered by the employer.
