About the Role

The Royal Mental Health Centre is seeking a dedicated and experienced Occupational Health Nurse to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the health and well-being of our staff, students, volunteers, and physicians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administering the Attendance Support Program and providing managers with insights based on employee attendance reports.
  • Analyzing and reporting on attendance trends and program effectiveness. Maintaining efficient data collection systems for tracking and reporting on the attendance management experience.
  • Ensuring all pre-placement requirements for new staff, students, and volunteers are met.
  • Providing vaccination updates and administering influenza and TB vaccinations to staff, volunteers, students, and physicians.
  • Assisting with outbreak management on patient units and participating in new hire evaluations.
  • Following up on employee incident reports, filing WSIB forms, and facilitating return-to-work meetings or modified work arrangements.
  • Contributing to health promotion initiatives and serving as a member of the Healthy Workplace Committee.
  • Administering first aid for both occupational and non-occupational injuries/illnesses and assisting with escorting injured employees to appropriate healthcare providers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Diploma as a Registered Practical Nurse.
  • Registration and membership in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Occupational Health Nursing Certificate preferred.
  • One year of recent relevant experience in Occupational Health and Safety, preferably within a hospital setting.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Knowledge of occupational health issues, Worker's Compensation regulations, workplace health & safety management, and case management is beneficial.
  • Experience or knowledge in infection control is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Parklane, and general spreadsheets.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team to deliver client services.
  • English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension, and written expression. Bilingual (French/English) is preferred.
