Opportunity Overview:

As a key member of the Overly Creative Minds (OCM) team, the Program Manager will oversee the daily operations of the program, focusing on empowering Indigenous youth aged 11 to 24 through artistic endeavors. This role requires the cultivation of relationships with community partners and organizations, management of the OCM Youth Care Counsellor and Summer Student, as well as direct engagement in youth work. Administrative responsibilities include program promotion, data compilation, report writing, and budget management. The Program Manager will report to the Director of Youth Engagement. This full-time position entails a standard workweek with flexible hours to accommodate program needs.

The OCM program provides a nurturing environment for Indigenous youth to explore arts and culture, fostering self-expression and identity.

Required Qualifications:

1. Educational background: A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline, with a minimum of 2 years of pertinent experience, or a combination of education and experience.

2. Proven experience in developing and implementing diverse arts and culture programs for youth.

3. Familiarity with the Indigenous community and effective engagement with a diverse range of Indigenous youth, alongside knowledge of community resources in Vancouver.

4. Understanding of the social and familial challenges faced by Indigenous youth today, including the impacts of historical injustices.

5. Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records.

6. Experience in supervising staff and volunteers, with conflict resolution skills.

7. Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office; familiarity with multimedia and arts-related software is advantageous.

8. Alignment with the organization's mandate, policies, and procedures.

9. Completion of a criminal record check is mandatory.

10. Proof of Covid-19 vaccination is required.

11. Priority will be given to qualified Indigenous candidates in accordance with the Human Rights Code.

12. A valid BC Driver's License is preferred.

13. FoodSafe and First Aid certifications are beneficial.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design, implement, and manage the daily operations of the OCM Program.

2. Ensure program alignment with its mission, providing a safe and inclusive environment for artistic exploration.

3. Foster a safe atmosphere for all participants by applying trauma-informed practices and promoting respectful interactions.

4. Engage directly with youth, offering leadership, mentorship, and crisis support to help them navigate challenges.

5. Collaborate with front-line workers and external partners to provide comprehensive youth support.

6. Build and sustain relationships with community organizations to enhance program effectiveness and broaden impact.

7. Supervise and mentor the OCM Youth Care Counsellor and Summer Students, providing guidance and professional development.

8. Promote a collaborative work environment that encourages creativity and teamwork.

9. Participate in community events and outreach activities to raise awareness of the program.

10. Adapt program activities based on community feedback and evolving needs.

11. Manage the program budget, ensuring responsible resource use and timely financial reporting.

12. Undertake additional duties as assigned by the Director of Youth Engagement.
