Counterbalance Forklift Specialist

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Clamp Truck Operator/Receiver to join our team at Atlantic Packaging. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for safely operating the clamp truck and receiving rolls, as well as transferring product as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate the clamp truck and receive rolls in a safe and efficient manner
  • Transfer product as required, adhering to company quality policy
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance checks on the clamp truck/forklift
  • Assist the Corrugator Supervisor as needed, including rotating to back-up and assist Corrugator Clamp Operator
  • Rotate to back-up and assist Corrugator by following instructions from Single Face Operator, Knifeman and Double Back Operator
  • Supply paper to the corrugator wet end and use butt rolls of paper whenever possible
  • Visually inspect all rolls for any non-conformances
  • Make starch and add additives
  • Perform quality checks when offloading and delivering paper to the corrugator or storage area
  • Perform roll stock inventory as required
  • Follow all required procedures
  • Assist in keeping sufficient paper at the machine to prevent downtime
  • Report all problems to the supervisor when they occur

Safety Responsibilities

  • Follow equipment-specific physical lock out tag out procedure
  • Ensure daily operator checklist is completed before use for clamp truck, forklift, and elevated work platforms
  • Report all hazards/problems to the supervisor when they occur

Requirements

  • Minimum Grade 10 education
  • Basic math skills
  • Previous manufacturing experience an asset
  • Previous Clamp/Forklift experience an asset
  • Machine operation skills
  • Organization skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts
  • Team player
  • Self-starter
