Job Summary:

Wright Canada Holdings Ltd is seeking an experienced Timber Cruiser to join our team in the Northern Interior backcountry of BC. As a key member of our field operations team, you will be responsible for mentoring a compass-person and preparing data for cruise compilation. Your expertise in timber reconnaissance and development will be crucial in identifying and maximizing timber harvest opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain fundamental knowledge of the BC Timber Cruising Manual
  • Apply strong skills in Forest Measurement Practices to ensure accurate data collection
  • Delegate day-to-day work and provide training to the cruising assistant
  • Maintain field quality and best practices
  • Utilize CruiseMate effectively to support data collection and analysis
  • Navigate forest service roads and off-highway driving with ease
  • Provide administrative support with day-to-day production and payroll tracking
  • Stay up-to-date with compilation programs, such as CompMate, to ensure seamless data integration
  • Support and adhere to Wright Canada Holdings Ltd's culture of safety and employee ownership
  • Comply with applicable federal, provincial, and local laws, rules, and regulations
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings
  • Travel to remote locations as required
  • Be prepared to respond to emergencies or natural disasters as needed

Requirements:

  • 1 year of experience in Timber Cruising
  • Ability to collect high-quality and accurate data
  • High level of efficiency with all tools used in Timber Cruising
  • ATV and Resource Road Driving experience
  • Ability to lead and direct crews
  • Safety-conscious attitude
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment
  • Experience with remote camping and chainsaw operation considered an asset
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and interact with employees, clients, and vendors
