Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement dynamic, engaging missions that meet the game's quality targets and narrative design requirements
  • Collaborate with level designers to integrate missions seamlessly into the game world, ensuring a cohesive and immersive player experience
  • Balance difficulty and pacing of missions to ensure a rewarding player experience, taking into account player psychology and FPS gameplay mechanics
  • Work closely with the narrative design team to ensure mission designs align with the game's narrative and special features
  • Collaborate with the art department to maintain a healthy scope overhead and ensure visual clarity and coherence of missions
  • Monitor playtesting sessions to gather feedback and iterate on mission designs, ensuring they meet the game's quality targets
  • Maintain documentation of mission designs, including flowcharts, diagrams, and written descriptions, to facilitate communication and iteration with the team
  • Stay current with industry trends and incorporate innovative mission design techniques to ensure the game remains competitive and engaging
Requirements
  • 6+ years of experience in mission and level design in FPS games, with a strong portfolio of shipped AAA titles
  • Experience working in a mission and level designer position, with a deep understanding of FPS gameplay mechanics, player psychology, and mission design principles
  • Extreme attention to detail, with a focus on quality and consistency in mission design
  • Experience with narrative design, flow, and pacing, with a strong understanding of how to create engaging and immersive mission experiences
  • Proficiency with game development tools, including Unreal Engine, and a strong understanding of AI scripting and behavior design
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including level designers, artists, and narrative designers
  • Ability to take constructive feedback and iterate on designs effectively, with a focus on delivering high-quality mission experiences
  • Passion for gaming and a deep understanding of current FPS titles and trends, with a willingness to stay current with industry developments and incorporate innovative design techniques
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with multiplayer combat design, with a strong understanding of how to create engaging and immersive multiplayer experiences
  • Familiarity with level design principles and environment art, with a strong understanding of how to create visually appealing and immersive game worlds
  • Knowledge of sound design and its impact on gameplay, with a strong understanding of how to create engaging and immersive audio experiences
  • Proficiency in scripting languages, such as C#, Python, or Lua, with a strong understanding of how to use these languages to create engaging and immersive mission experiences
