About the Job

We are seeking a skilled Construction Carpenter to join our team at PCM-Pomeroy Construction and Maintenance Ltd. As a Construction Carpenter, you will be responsible for building and maintaining residential and commercial structures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and Interpret Blueprints: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine work requirements.
  • Prepare and Layout: Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools.
  • Measure and Cut Materials: Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.
  • Build and Install: Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.
  • Fabricate and Install Finishing Touches: Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware.
  • Maintain and Repair: Maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, and other establishments.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Work Setting: Construction, various locations.
  • Equipment and Machinery Experience: Hand tools.
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Work with minimal supervision.
  • Personal Suitability: Accurate, client focus, judgement, reliability.
