Job Summary:

Arcadis is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join its growing in-house legal team, supporting the Intelligence global business area. The ideal candidate will have legal experience in the professional services industry, including areas of consulting and digital services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive legal services during the pursuit, negotiation, and delivery stages for complex, higher-risk projects using various delivery models across public and private markets.
  • Provide legal advice as a trusted legal advisor to the Intelligence Legal Director, their management team, and senior leaders worldwide.
  • Provide legal advice on privacy and data protection matters in Canada.
  • Serve as a key contact to facilitate legal guidance on compliance with Arcadis policies, governance, entity management, labor & employment, intellectual property, and procurement laws.
  • Develop proactive protocols to identify and manage routine project risks within the Intelligence business area and advise management of the same.
  • Coordinate the efforts of outside counsel on a case-by-case basis as required.
  • Support the development and implementation of policies and processes to improve efficiency and risk management.
  • Collaborate across the Legal, Compliance, and Privacy departments for the professional growth and development of the legal team through formal and informal mentoring.
  • Develop and implement role-related training programs for Intelligence global business area.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities requiring general legal advice as required from time to time by the business.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree-qualified with a J.D. or LL.B. and have at least four years of post-qualification experience, preferably in-house or from a top law firm.
  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario or an equivalent body.
  • Demonstrates experience conducting legal research on public contracting laws, with experience negotiating and drafting complex agreements in a professional services sector and managing risk for related projects.
  • Experience collaborating with stakeholders across a complex matrix-structured organization (ideally within a Professional and Digital Services company), and demonstrate being client-focused, proactive, and adaptable to business and client needs.
