Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Operations Engineer to join our team at HCLTech. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing and operating VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid (TKG) management and workload clusters.

Key Responsibilities
  • TKG Cluster Management: Manage and operate TKG management and workload clusters, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Level 3 Support: Provide Level 3 support for Tanzu Kubernetes clusters, addressing complex issues and collaborating with a 24x7x365 global support delivery team.
  • Upgrade and Patch Management: Assist in the planning and execution of TKG upgrades and patch management, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to services.
  • Monitoring and Alerting: Monitor the health, capacity, and performance of TKG clusters and associated services, responding to alerts and ensuring prompt resolution of issues.
  • Container Registry Management: Manage Harbor container registry instances, repositories, and helm charts, ensuring secure and efficient container deployment.
  • Telco Cloud Native Functions/Services: Manage telco cloud native functions/services (CSAR), ensuring seamless integration with TKG clusters.
  • Troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis: Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to container orchestration, network connectivity, and performance, performing root cause analysis and contributing to post-incident reports.
  • Automation and Scripting: Design and implement automation for routine operational tasks, utilizing scripting languages such as Bash, Python, Terraform, or Ansible.
  • Knowledge Sharing and Mentorship: Develop and maintain knowledge base articles and documentation (SOPs & TSGs) to support operations teams, mentor junior support team members, and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
Requirements
  • 7-9 years of experience in a technical position, with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid administrator.
  • Proven experience in a Level 3 Kubernetes support role.
  • Strong understanding of TKG architecture and components.
  • Experience with Kubernetes-related tools and technologies (e.g., kubectl, helm).
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting issues related to containerization (Docker).
  • Scripting and automation skills (e.g., Bash, Python, Terraform/Ansible).
  • Knowledge of container runtime technologies (e.g., containerd, CRI-O).
  • Strong understanding and hands-on experience working with underlying infrastructure (Telco Cloud Automation (TCA), vCenter, ESXi, vSAN, NSXT, AVI).
  • Strong understanding and hands-on experience in leveraging observability solutions (vRO, Prometheus/Grafana, Dynatrace) for Kubernetes platform monitoring and logging.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CKAD, CKA) would be a plus.
