Position Overview
The Lead Bodily Injury Claims Specialist plays a crucial role in the thorough investigation, assessment, analysis, adjustment, and resolution of intricate property and casualty claims exceeding $250,000. This position emphasizes quality service and customer satisfaction by ensuring the right experts and vendors are engaged for each claim. The claims adjustment process will be conducted efficiently to manage indemnity, expenditures, and costs while maintaining superior customer service standards. Responsibilities include establishing prompt communication with insured members, conducting detailed investigations into coverage, liability, and quantum, ensuring compliance with fiduciary and contractual obligations, and adhering to organizational service standards and operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Vice President of Curo Claims Services, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing an exceptional customer experience by addressing inquiries, maintaining contact with insured members, and managing claims overflow.
- Verifying coverage for incoming claims through comprehensive fact-finding, obtaining necessary technical reports, investigating questionable claims, analyzing case law for liability and benefit determinations, and assessing quantum.
- Ensuring quality service by adhering to organizational standards while managing all aspects of file handling, including reserving, expense control, liability assessments, and developing clear plans for file closure.
- Overseeing and directing the work of external experts, medical professionals, attorneys, and service providers to ensure timely completion.
- Representing stakeholders professionally in meetings, court hearings, mediations, and other forums with a focus on resolution and settlement.
- Maintaining confidentiality of claims information to protect both operations and insured members.
- Ensuring data integrity, managing payments to vendors and insureds, and maintaining organized claim files with accurate data entry.
- Complying with partner guidelines, contracts, and insurance regulations to uphold legal and regulatory standards.
- Actively engaging in coaching and training sessions, collaborating with team members and management.
Candidate Profile:
What We Are Looking For:
We seek a candidate with the following qualifications:
- A post-secondary education or college diploma in a related field.
- CIP designation.
- Ability to obtain an adjuster's license.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the property and casualty insurance industry.
- 7-10 years of experience in handling casualty claims, including litigation management.
- Proven experience managing claims exceeding $250,000.
- Strong background in residential construction.
- Familiarity with medical rehabilitation concepts.
- Knowledge of relevant case law.
- Exceptional investigation and negotiation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills to manage competing priorities and projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and work with various software and databases.
- Capacity to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Proficiency in French is an asset.
