Position Overview

Objective: We are looking for a Hydraulic Engineering Specialist to become a vital member of our Water Resources Division. This role involves contributing to various projects associated with Infrastructure, Municipal Services, Transportation, and more. The position offers a flexible work arrangement, allowing for a blend of remote and in-office work. The primary work will be conducted from our regional offices, with occasional travel to project sites as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop comprehensive drainage strategies and create hydrologic and hydraulic models for Municipal, Road, Highway, Rail, Land Development, and Transit initiatives.
  2. Engage in the design of stormwater management systems, including storage solutions, Low Impact Development (LID) designs, storm sewer configurations, and hydraulic grade line assessments.
  3. Assist in the preparation of technical documentation and reports.
  4. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address drainage specifications for various projects.
  5. Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with design and construction standards for civil engineering projects.
  6. Oversee regulatory submissions and obtain necessary approvals.
  7. Support design tasks and produce engineering drawings related to drainage and stormwater management.
  8. Provide project engineering support during construction phases as required.
  9. Contribute to proposal development and business growth initiatives.
  10. Calculate quantities for construction estimates in accordance with established methods and specifications.
  11. Foster and maintain strong client relationships.
Required Qualifications:
  1. A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on water resources from an accredited institution.
  2. A postgraduate degree in Water Resources is advantageous.
  3. A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, ideally within an engineering consultancy.
  4. A solid understanding of water resources engineering principles.
  5. Proficiency in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software, including PCSWMM, Visual OTTHYMO, HEC-RAS, Culvert Master, and SWMHYMO.
  6. Familiarity with GIS and database management is beneficial.
  7. Competence in AutoCAD and Civil 3D is essential.
  8. Strong skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  9. Knowledge of Microsoft Project is a plus.
  10. A Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license in Ontario or eligibility to obtain it within a year is required.
  11. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  12. Capability to work independently with minimal supervision as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  13. A valid driver's license and willingness to undergo security clearance checks are necessary.
