The First Nations Tax Commission is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to play a key role in contributing to the growth of our education department. The Instructional Designer will be responsible for the development of courses and programs related to the development and delivery of the First Nations Tax Commission education mandate.

The Instructional Designer will be responsible for providing excellence in course design and development, working with a course development team. The successful candidate will have experience implementing contemporary instructional design principles, developing instruction to address specific learning profiles, managing multiple projects with shifting priorities and timelines, writing clear instructional material, providing coaching and training, attending to detail, and evaluating and making recommendations regarding instructional design in various modalities in keeping with departmental quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing instructional design plans
  • Guiding the development of learning outcomes, course outlines, learning activities, and assessment instruments
  • Managing multiple projects with shifting priorities and timelines
  • Writing clear instructional material
  • Providing coaching and training
  • Evaluating and making recommendations regarding instructional design

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years demonstrated experience in curriculum design and development
  • A minimum of 3 years' teaching experience, post-secondary with adult learners preferred
  • Knowledge of current theories and practices in online, distance, and open education
  • Demonstrated experience leading project teams effectively
  • Superior time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to write and edit effectively
