Role Overview:
The Vice President of Business Development will report directly to the Regional Vice President and will be responsible for driving sales and cultivating new business opportunities within the designated territory. This role also includes managing and nurturing existing client relationships regarding Dynamic's offerings. Additionally, the Vice President will provide guidance and mentorship to the Inside Sales Representative (ISR) assigned to the territory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee a specific territory to enhance sales and foster new business relationships.
- Establish and maintain enduring relationships with clients while actively seeking new prospects.
- Utilize comprehensive product knowledge and interpersonal skills to boost sales and retain client assets.
- Conduct individual and group meetings with financial advisors to advocate for company products and services (approximately 20 meetings weekly).
- Delegate daily responsibilities to the ISR and Sales Associate for effective follow-up.
- Organize and facilitate events, roadshows, and manager meetings.
- Formulate a strategic business plan for the year and conduct quarterly reviews with the team to enhance sales from advisors in the territory.
- Segment the client base to establish service levels and ensure sales across various distribution channels.
- Maintain and nurture client relationships through territory rotations to boost sales and diversify product utilization.
- Make proactive calls to clients who exceed set purchase or redemption targets.
- Manage expenses and uphold the overall budget for the region, including approving co-op requests and promotional expenditures.
- Utilize the Diagnostic Selling Process to gather data and populate the CRM system with insights from meetings.
- Address client inquiries and follow up on leads generated by the ISR.
- Generate and cultivate new business relationships.
- Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to the ISR.
- Present new products, business development strategies, and tax-planning insights to advisors.
- Collaborate extensively within a supportive team environment to achieve and exceed sales targets.
- Participate in special projects as needed.
- Adhere to Scotiabank's Global Sales Principles and integrate the Bank's risk appetite and culture into daily operations and decisions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in commerce, finance, or business administration.
- Bilingual proficiency (French/English) is required.
- Proven track record of advancement in roles with increasing responsibility within the financial services sector.
- At least 5 years of sales experience.
- A minimum of 5 years managing a sales territory.
- Completion of CSC and/or IFIC certification is required.
- Ability to work effectively as an individual contributor within a team setting.
- Basic proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience with Customer Relationship Management systems is essential.
- Enrollment in an industry designation program (CIM, CFA, CFP, etc.) is preferred.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Excellent public speaking and presentation abilities.
- Awareness of current and emerging trends in the financial services industry.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to maximizing sales.
- Willingness to travel frequently.
