About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Health Care Worker to join our team at BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services. As a Health Care Worker, you will play a vital role in providing care and support to individuals with complex mental health and substance use challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families, providing support and care in accordance with established care plans.
  • Provide personal care to patients, including bathing, dressing, and assisting with daily living activities.
  • Perform nursing care functions, such as monitoring patient progress and reporting any concerns to the Registered Nurse or designate.
  • Respond to call bells and alarms, and assist with emergent situations as needed.

Requirements

  • Grade 10 or equivalent education, and completion of a recognized Nursing Assistant or Care Attendant program.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively, and to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Commitment to developing knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments related to Indigenous reconciliation.
