Supervised by: Maintenance Lead and Heavy Equipment Mechanic(s)

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic Trainee plays a vital role in supporting the repair, assessment, and preventive upkeep of our truck fleet and pumping machinery. This position is classified as safety-sensitive.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assist the Heavy Equipment Mechanic in all aspects of repair, evaluation, and maintenance of the truck fleet.
  2. Ensure that all mechanical tasks are executed safely and adhere to company protocols under supervision.
  3. Acquire knowledge of equipment operation pertinent to the cementing processes in oil and gas extraction.
  4. Complete necessary documentation as instructed, including work orders and maintenance logs.
  5. Report unresolved equipment concerns.
  6. Maintain cleanliness in the workshop and perform minor maintenance tasks as directed.
  7. Engage in training and professional development opportunities.
  8. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications:
  1. Currently enrolled in a relevant trade program with some hands-on experience.
  2. Physically capable of lifting heavy items, standing, bending, and climbing.
  3. Willingness to work overtime, maintain a flexible schedule, and travel as needed.
  4. Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  5. Legally authorized to work in the country.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Experience with hand and power tools.
  2. Demonstrated strong work ethic, positive demeanor, reliability, and dependability.
  3. Ability to adapt, be flexible, and prioritize safety.
  4. Team-oriented with a focus on customer service.
  5. Proactive and results-driven.
Additional Assets:
  1. Valid class 3 or 1 (Canada) / class A CDL (U.S.) driver's license.
  2. Self-motivated, organized, capable of prioritizing and multitasking.
  3. Able to work independently.
