We are seeking a Construction Manager with specialized knowledge in Water and Wastewater projects. Your responsibilities will include pre-execution planning, verifying construction packages, and overseeing all site execution aspects, including both self-performed and subcontracted labor supervision. You will ensure that production schedules are adhered to while maintaining our rigorous safety and quality standards.

Location

This role will support a Wastewater Treatment Plant project.

District Overview

Kiewit's Western Canada District, headquartered in Burnaby, British Columbia, focuses on heavy civil projects, including earth moving, transportation, roadways, bridges, water resources, and underground utilities. Our current projects span the entire West Coast of Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations and policies.
  • Provide leadership to all on-site personnel, including managing field resources and subcontractors to ensure work is completed safely, on time, and to high-quality standards.
  • Develop and manage site work schedules.
  • Organize and lead regular safety meetings.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment.
  • Oversee contract administration and facilitate communication through subcontractor and field management meetings.
  • Foster positive client relations involving on-site staff.
  • Initiate and participate in meetings with clients for problem resolution and planning.
  • Review and approve monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections.
  • Assess, approve, and negotiate change orders.
  • Create and implement a plan for project completion and turnover.
  • Maintain a daily log for record-keeping purposes.
  • Ensure timely completion of performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Recommend organizational, policy, procedural, or staffing changes as necessary.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in on-site coordination and management of multiple subcontractors and suppliers, with a focus on large-scale water and wastewater treatment plant projects.
  • Proven experience in managing construction projects in Northern and/or remote environments, including problem-solving and coordinating multiple construction crews.
  • Valid certification as a First Line Supervisor or equivalent.
  • At least 15 years of demonstrated on-site experience in coordinating and managing subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as construction management, engineering, or architecture.
