BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) is seeking a Project Coordinator for Indigenous Health Initiatives.
Role Overview
In alignment with the Mission, Vision, and Values of BC Emergency Health Services, patient safety is a core priority, and all staff share the responsibility of enhancing quality and safety in every aspect of their work.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Indigenous Health, the Project Coordinator is tasked with identifying and prioritizing various projects. This role encompasses the coordination of initiatives related to the Community Paramedicine agenda, focusing on knowledge exchange, information dissemination, and educational efforts for both internal and external stakeholders. The Project Coordinator plays a crucial role in the planning, development, execution, and assessment of these projects, maintaining primary responsibility for project coordination. This position supports collaborative efforts with internal, external, and provincial partners to enhance the quality and accessibility of health services, alongside related research and knowledge exchange activities. The role involves managing a diverse array of projects of varying sizes and complexities within a dynamic multidisciplinary environment.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the execution of projects, ensuring efficiency, adherence to protocols, compliance with institutional and ethical policies, and completion within established timelines. This may involve supervising staff or students involved in larger or more complex projects. Gather, analyze, and interpret relevant data related to ongoing projects, providing insights and recommendations to the Executive Director and project/program teams for development, implementation, analysis, and dissemination of findings. Facilitate the sharing of information and knowledge regarding projects and key programs through various channels to internal and external stakeholders. Actively support the management and facilitation of time-sensitive projects aimed at identifying best practice strategies for health professionals concerning Community Paramedicine quality initiatives. Collaborate with Quality Leaders and/or Clinical Leads to coordinate the implementation of approved recommendations derived from research, best practices, and policy evaluations. Assist with evaluative and special projects within the department, liaising with external partners, developing evaluative surveys using web-based tools, and supporting special initiatives.Qualifications
A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years of recent related experience or equivalent work-related experience in a health, social services, government, or community organization.
Skills & Knowledge
Understanding of research methodologies, quality improvement, and clinical practices relevant to the service/program area; health systems and policy; and knowledge exchange. Practical skills in project coordination/management, research, and evaluation. Proficiency in relevant software applications, including desktop publishing, web content management, and advanced internet navigation. Experience in conducting literature searches, best practice reviews, and policy analysis while collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders. Attributes such as creativity, sound judgment, diplomacy, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment; strong negotiation and communication skills are essential.Commitment to Indigenous Cultural Safety and Diversity
Knowledge of the impacts of colonialism on Indigenous peoples in social and health contexts, along with a solid understanding of Indigenous cultural safety and anti-racism. Awareness of the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action and related reports, and their implications within the healthcare system. Support team members in their learning journey, ensuring the implementation of Indigenous Cultural Safety strategies. Collaborate with Indigenous teams to ensure a holistic application of Indigenous Cultural Safety principles. Typical Hiring Range: $62,239 - $73,909
The starting salary for this position will be determined based on the successful candidate's relevant education and experience, in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan.
